Here is a GREAT piece of mid 19th century American glass… this is an EXTRA LARGE sized handled jug, standing 7 1/4″ tall, and over 5″ in diameter! You can see it was made in a 2-piece mold, and the little molded bump where the handle was to be applied. And what a nice chunky handle it is nice… fine execution! Blob type top, and a HUGE iron pontil base. The color is awesome… in a medium “pinkish” puce (I can’t capture the true color), and the glass has wonderful clarity, and actually quite a bit of whittle. I can’t say enough about this piece… a beauty!!
