Here is a spectacular and rare colored figured cologne bottle, known as the Palmetto and Scrolled Acanthus (See Helen McKearin’s American Bottle & Flasks And Their Ancestry, Fig. 111, # 3). When available, they are usually found in aqua, but rarely in this vivid medium cobalt blue color. These are 1820-40s, and American. Nice strong embossing, inwardly rolled lip, and open pontil base. Roughly 6″ tall. A little extra glass from mold seepage, but in excellent condition. Still an underappreciated area of collecting, and still affordable for essentially a rare blue cologne flask! Don’t miss this one.
