ON HOLD – Here is a large, early and fairly rare 1850s tombstone-shaped medicine bottle, embossed “DR. J.S. WOOD’S / ELIXIR / ALBANY / N.Y.” on the front panel. The font on these are very fine, and although they are all usually weak, you can read everything just fine. This one is as strong as any I have had. An impressive bottle, standing almost 9″ tall, this one is crisp and bold, in a pleasing bright emerald green with a yellowish tone. Applied sloping collared top, and an iron pontil base. Most of these that have come to market have had condition issues. This one is all good, with extremely faint scratches on the back base. Truly, a fine example of this most sought after medicine!
