This is a great 1860's jar made from a Stoddard whiskey mold at the South Stoddard Weeks & Gilson or Weeks Glass Works. This one is a bright honey amber color and has some very nice "typical Stoddard" glass character such as the tiny seed bubbles and great whittled texture! As you can see, it has a nice crudely tooled lip, and a "dot" in the center of the base. The mold seams (3 piece mold) are very bold... you can even see where the mold ended in the neck. This heavy piece has the feel of New Hampshire! This scarce "utilitarian" jar is in excellent condition!
